Mini Chandeliers - Seven Factors to Consider

Homeowners sometimes envision large, elaborate, lighting fixtures when they think of the word chandelier. However, since the original chandelier was designed many years ago, it has evolved into many designs, shapes, materials and sizes. This article briefly discusses mini chandeliers, also referred to as small chandeliers and chandelettes in the lighting literature.

Chandeliers are multi-bulb fixtures hung from the ceiling. Chandelier lighting offers illumination, decor and style. Chandelier size is important, for if the light fixture is too large for the room where the chandelier light will be hung, the chandelier may Mini Chandeliersoverpower the room, making the room seem unbalanced. A chandelier that is too large for the space may also provide excessive lighting to the room.

Mini chandeliers can add decor and lighting to small rooms and living spaces. Mini chandeliers can also be used to illuminate small spaces in homes, to complement other lighting in the room, and/or to provide accent lighting. Small chandeliers can be used as one unit or as multiple units in the room. Mini chandeliers may also be used in modest homes, where large chandeliers may not fit in, or appear out of place with the home style and ambiance.

When homeowners are considering purchasing mini chandeliers, they may want to consider the following seven factors:

Mini Chandeliers(1) The number of lights on mini chandeliers, as this factor will impact the look of the fixture as well as the amount of light emitted by it.

(2) The total wattage per fixture, as this factor impacts energy consumption and amount of light emitted by the mini chandelier.

(3) Whether or not the mini chandeliers use specialty bulbs or standard bulbs, as specialty bulbs may not be as readily available as standard bulbs. Specialty bulbs also tend to cost more than standard bulbs.

(4) Whether or not the mini chandeliers have an energy efficient rating, as purchasing a mini chandelier that has an energy efficient rating helps save energy and tends to cost less to use when compared with non-energy rated light fixtures.

(5) The weight of the mini chandeliers, as even though a small chandelier tends to weigh less than a large chandelier depending on its material, consideration must be given to the weight of mini chandeliers to ensure safe installation.

(6) The cleaning requirement of the mini chandeliers, as the less ornate the mini chandelier, the easier and less time it tends to take to clean it.

(7) Installing a compatible dimmer switch. Dimmer switches help to control the intensity of lighting in the room, and may help homeowners create the ambiance they seek.
